premium never ending tour material by any measure.
bob might have survived histoplasmosis, but the “rock star” did die in mid-1997.
1998 was when bob started to get serious & grow up.
there is a great diversity of opinion about the 1998 european tour – some love it & some hate it

compare the gopherstick & andrew muir reviews of individual concerts
– both these people are very knowledgable about bob & their opinions differ wildly
– you can’t say one is right & one is wrong – it’s all about perception.

we also need to remember we are listening mainly to digital tapes recorded close to the stage here
– the live audience experience is a different thing altogether

the reality is that you have to listen to all the 33 concerts if you want to make sense of it – all shows are different

bob played a huge number of songs across his entire catalogue – it was anything but a TOOM promotion
– only Cold Irons Bound & Love Sick appeared most nights.

bob is obviously working to some sort of plan here

mainly fantastic sound & even more fantastic performances.

sony might like to consider dublin 1998 for a bootleg series release one day – it only circulates in very poor sound

100% lossless FLAC from best available sound sources.

NOTES from the original uploader:

I’m Not Positive, but sounds like SBD Recording

The “Come Together: Jon Bon Jovi & Friends” benefit concert was organized by the Long Branch Police Department, The Asbury Park Press, and FPI Concerts, along with Jon Bon Jovi. The concert was to honor slain Long Branch police officer Sgt. Patrick King and raise money for the Sgt. Patrick King Memorial Fund to provide for his family. King, 45-year-old father of two young boys, was fatally shot on 20 Nov 1997 by a fugitive who had vowed to kill himself and a police officer rather than be captured and returned to jail.

20 musicians with ties to the Jersey shore music scene answered Jon Bon Jovi’s call, including Bruce Springsteen, Patti Scialfa and several members of the then-disbanded E Street Band (Clarence Clemons, Danni Frederici, Patti Scialfa, Little Steven, and Max Weinberg), Southside Johnny, Bobby Bandiera, and Richie Sambora among others. Actor Danny DeVito was the event’s MC.

This was a near-reunion of the fabled E Street Band and Bruce’s first full-length electric gig following the acoustic: The Ghost Of Tom Joad Solo Acoustic Tour. Springsteen spent much of (or maybe all) the night onstage, singing or playing guitar only.

From the original uploader:

Loud, Live Raw and Rockin’

I upped this on Dime a long time ago, and now on the eve of the 25th Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival, it’s time to share it again. This show was recorded for broadcast by ABC National FM, and a truncated performance was aired soon after.

This version, however, is the full set in glorious pre-FM sound. It was copied from the masters (multis?) onto CDR by a well known Melbourne guitarist (who shall remain nameless, although I will say he’s a real Beast) during a session at the ABC studios. In this version Buddy Miller is loud and in-your-face in the left channel, much more prominent than on the broadcast set, so I suspect that The Beast tweaked the levels before making his CDR.

This is a copy of those CDR’s and it is a great show. Enjoy!
