The static flaws suggests it might be ALD, but the range and depth suggest a line feed.
A comment notes it is: “neither a true board or an ALD…it’s from the in-house sbd feed
that was sent to the luxury suites.”

Geetarz Comments:

Some things do get better with age, and the 2000 “CSNY2K” tour was a personal favorite. This, to me, is the cream of the crop, and one of my personal all-time favorite “Desert Island” discs.

The 2000 tour featured new takes on old classics, and somehow bridged the ages, bringing old and new into a harmonious, rocking whole.

The first years of the 21st Century were also a “golden age” of ALD recordings, before their alternate uses became more widely known and many venues shut the technology down. There are quite a number of ALDs from the CSNY2K tour – some of which, sadly, are still in the clutches of hoarders. This one, luckily, saw the light of day.

ALD recordings of course have their technical limitations, including reduced dynamic range, lack of bass, and attenuated high end. Luckily the Professor at 3BR was able to work his sonic magic on this recording, and really bring it to life.

If you’re into vocal harmonies, loud crunchy guitar, and close-miked soundboards – this is sonic heaven.

Beyond recommended … ESSENTIAL!

A huge thanks, as always, to all of the tapers and to Les for cooking up this gem and for sharing it with us way back when.

The following notes are Les’s:

I’ve assembled the tracks, from my own sources to match the artwork details. There is a (remote) chance that I’ve used a different source tape to the original, as in a few cases I had more than one different source tape. In those cases I chose the one that sounded better to me.

LB-3953, (74min+38min), Trade CDR > EAC (Secure) > WAV > FLAC (Level 8), Background talk throughout (distracting); hoots and hollers (very distracting); d1t2@0:16 “… when we got here …” and @1:01 “10 years ago”; d1t4@4:27 “Can you see?” and @4:31 “the land of the giants”; disc 2 has a click/pop at the start. The recording is clipped during the louder parts but apart from that the sound is good.; bittorrent download 08/06; lots of background talking; louder songs clip at -2db probably through a limiter and can be hear especially on d2t2; very good to excellent sound [B+]

A very nice show from the 2000 Tour but needed some work to improve especially the too low voices in the mix.
-Some dynamic and a little EQ has been used with Sound Forge 9.
-Some skips was deleted too .
-DC Offset removed.
Sbe’s aligned with TLH.
I think the result is not so bad.
