Notes:
In October ’99, at Swindon, Van issued his patented, disingenuous call for requests. A member of the audience piped up, to whom Van incredulously replied, “Mona Lisa??” Longtime fans could not have found this request so far off the mark. During the terrific fall ’86 tour of England, at least a handful of shows closed with this tender Nat King Cole standard. This selection is a fine representation of those wonderful autumn eves. No Guru material added a new dimension to an act that some feel, by the end of ’85, had grown somewhat stale. Highlights include “Tir Na Nog”, “Here Comes The Knight”, and the fantastic “Rave On” combo – which segues into a drawn-out, funky version of “Satisfied”. All this, and a lovely “Mona Lisa” to cap it off make Bristol ’86 a standout set.

Note: I do not know whether this derives from a different master than LB-2204, but if I were to characterize the crowd noise on the present torrent, I would have referred to the loud shouting between songs rather than to the background talking on some tracks that is mentioned for LB-2204.

received from HCE MMG, who writes on the card: ” a daud, not a sdb!”. claims he received from
the person who taped. Dont know. I was always a bit suspicious of this tape. Dont think it was
originally taped on dat, but analog. However it does have some suspicious edits, and it was taped
at a festival, so there is always a chance it was taped with shotguns, from a high spot, aimed
at the top of the stacks. The drums seem to suffer from echo. People used to try to make fake sdbs
back then..and it does sound like its been eq’ed/

On the other hand its steady all the way, the audience is very distant.
There is talk among the band members at times. Dont know.
Its not an FM. It was broadcast on some small radio station in the NE a few weeks after the
show took place, but not an FM.
Dont know.

Comment
This is one of the radio braodcasts from the Golden Heart tour. There were two different broadcasts of this concert, one in UK and one in Norway. This is a mix of these two different broadcasts. The tracks with (UK) after them are as you understand taken from the UK broadcast. The rest from the Norwegian broadcast. Includes also the intro and outro which Chet Atkins did.
