BobTalk

  • All right, New York City baby. We’re celebrating here tonight.
Just because, just being alive, just being alive in this city is reason enough to celebrate.
And we’re gonna celebrate it. (before Clean-Cut Kid)
  • You and me, we had it all. Ha-ha. I sung that for anybody who’s ever had their heart broken
    just one time.
  • All right, I’m gonna play all the songs in the same key tonight. It seems like a good idea.
What do you think? (before It Ain’t Me, Babe)
  • Thank you. Thank you very much. Tom and I are gonna sing an old song for you now.
A song they used to play on the radio when we were growing up.
I think I’m the oldest person here, am I right? Oh, I’m sorry.
OK, when I was growing up they used to play these kind of songs on the radio.
Anyway they don’t write these kind of songs anymore. Kind of a shame, but it’s true.
So this is about, … song about a man who thinks he knows it all, ha-ha but, ….
(before I Forgot More Than You’ll Ever Know)
  • I wanna say hello to all those people standing over there to the right.
I wanna say hello to all of them. You know who you are. And you do too.
All right, anybody know what time it is? What time is it?
All you rock music critics should know. I know there’s plenty of you out there.
You know what time it is? I hope you do. Or you ain’t gonna be a rock critic for long?
    (before Band Of The Hand)
  • OK, Ricky Nelson, he did a lot of my songs, Ricky Nelson.
I wanna do one of his called Lonesome Town. Actually I heard this song when I was about oh,
say I dunno, two years old. It really had an impression on me. (plays Lonesome Town)
    Thank you. Thank you, Ricky.
  • All right, ha-ha, what time is it. We got a curfew tonight.
If youíre checking on that right now, this might … time, what time is it? Weíve gone over
curfew. OK, I wanna introduce Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers too.
On the keyboards, Benmont Tench. All the people in the back can hear it right.
Ha-ha, OK, New York City baby. Ok now, on the guitar, Michael Campbell.
Right, on the drums now, Stan Lynch. OK now, on the bass guitar, and the rest of the
instruments, Howie Epstein. I especially wanna thank Mr. Tom Petty himself.
A real gentleman, he should be around a long time. And another old friend of mine,
and a special guest guitar player, Ronnie Wood. Actually Ronnie’s been up here for
a while now, ha-ha. I also of course have my own Heartbreakers.
I’m glad some of you recognize that. That’s Queen Esther Marrow and Carolyn Dennis,
Madelyn Quebec and Louise Bethune. Anybody out there wanna be introduced? Ha-ha,
Iím ready to introduce anybody tonight. (before Like A Rolling Stone)
  • All right now, we played that for all the, you know weíve got all the Ray Charles fans out
there tonight. We played that for you all. (after Unchain My Heart)

TaperAdvocat posted this [LB-2447] in EZT in ’04, and he wrote, “WOW!!! I even surprised myself with this one. Hadn’t listened to this recording since the day I made it because only one channel came out. The other track was nothing more than a mere a buzzing noise which in the cassette player of the 80’s made it relatively unlistenable, except with the balance over to the one channel so you listened with one speaker or you used a Y cord. Not to worry though, with the magic of Sound Forge you won’t even notice, just the good track has been reproduced in full stereo (double mono) effect. This is a great sounding audience recording that I made of this rarely heard tour. You will not be disappointed by this one. Just check out this set list. Dylan plays songs that I have never heard anyplace else. And Ronnie Wood shows up to play along on most of Dylan’s tracks on CD 2. Did I mention to check out the setlist??? Wah hooo!!!”

I changed no audio. I added a .ffp file and my usual stuff though.

  • OK, before we go any further here we wanna say Happy Anniversary tonight
to Margie and Eric. Did I get that right? OK. (before I’ll Remember You)
  • OK, Tom and I are gonna sing an old song for you now.
They don’t write these kind of songs anymore. It’s about a man who thinks
he knows it all. (before I Forgot More Than You’ll Ever Know)
  • OK, anybody out there know what time it is? Ha-ha. Come on now, surely
someone knows? Yeah? What time is it? OK, OK, nobody knows.
We’ll gonna tell you what time it is. (before Band Of The Hand)
  • OK, Ricky Nelson he did a lot of my songs. I’m gonna do one of his.
I admire him a great deal. This oneís called Lonesome Town.
  • OK, we have a special man in the house tonight. I wanna introduce him,
So everybody knows heís here. A man who is greatly responsible in a lot
of ways for the type of music that we play, from Mississippi originally,
John Lee Hooker. I don’t know if we can get him out here if you clap,
but if you clap hard enough maybe he just might. (before Good Rockin’ Mama)
  • OK, I wanna introduce Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers now, great band.
You know there’s so much …, so much … crap these days that passes off
as rock ëní roll. It’s nice to meet a real rock ëní roll band,
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. And let me tell you something.
This band is a great band. Anybody would sound good with this band.
I wanna acknowledge that and I surely appreciate it. (before Like A Rolling Stone)
  • All right, we’re gonna dedicate this next song here to people who get
punished for doing good things. Anybody out there know anybody like that?
Yeah, I do too. OK, I also wanna introduce to you a gentleman, a great
musician and also a poet. Mr. Tom Petty. (before In The Garden)
