Source info:
SBD: SBD>laptop>M1 recorded by SeanD (Portlandtaper)
AUD: Nakamichi cm300 (NOS 8’FOB)>iriver h140 recorded by yltfan

Oddities:

-The SBD connection had “issues” that made the right side unusable for the first 1/4 of the show (transition is around 01:57 of “Shot In The Arm”), so it’s a mono mixed SBD that is assisted in gaining a more natural spread by the stereo AUD. After that, it’s a nice fully dynamic mix from both sources.

-The SBD source probably died from length of the show (2+ hours) and cuts off 13 (hello!) minutes shy of the actual shows end. So the AUD takes that part on it’s own, which is a much less offensive crime when it’s such a nice source as YLTfan often provides. Basically, it’s all good.

And so to the conclusion of The Beatles as a performing group (although some might argue the end really came a year or more earlier)
& all the circulating shows from their final tour of the U.S.A.

While this may be a delight for completists, the last show at San Francisco is the only decent sounding recording here (and not such a
bad performance either, relatively speaking). Also of note is the ‘cherry bomb’ explosion heard halfway through “If I Needed Someone”
from the Memphis evening show. Otherwise it’s slim pickings, pop pickers.

We’ve done our best to make everything sound as good as possible -speed correction, a little eq, and more (but never any compression or
noise reduction!) We even used a source for the San Francisco show without the digital reverb appearing on most releases of this concert.

It’s not all that pretty, but this is it the end of The Beatles live. (Unless you count the Rooftop Concert & and that’s on A/B Road
if you still need to find it!)

The tenth and penultimate volume in our overview of The Beatles’ live career brings us their brief 1966 World Tour and the end of the Beatles caring much about their performances. Still, the Munich and Tokyo shows are the last to survive in soundboard quality.

The unbooted Hamburg tracks are taken from a German radio broadcast. We’re very grateful they made their way to us.

The Disc One bonus tracks are a little unnecessary, since Track 33 is much longer than anything available previously. But the snippets are maybe a little better quality, so it’s all here, just in case you care.

27/11/70 – SUNSHINE IN, ASBURY PARK, NJ

Early Show: DANCING IN THE STREETS (13:49)
DO IT NOW (13:15)
I CAN’T TAKE IT (9:07)
OH MAMA (4:25)
CHANGE IT (9:58)
I GOTTA BE FREE – TURN ON YOUR LOVELIGHT (11:27)
TRAIN RIDE (13:49)

TWO shows, triple bill, with the bottom-billed STEEL MILL opening for the 2nd billed CACTUS and headliner BLACK SABBATH (fronted by a spooked Ozzy Osbourne, who received death threats before the show). The above-mentioned 7-song, setlist comes from a very recently surfaced excellent audio quality soundboard and represents the complete 76-minute performance from the early show, with no continuity breaks in the audio. This is not Steel Mill at its best, but it does contain the previously uncirculating “Do It Now”. The original master tape had the recording date on it and, additionally, there is verifying commentary by Robbin Thompson during the performance. About 8 minutes into “Dancing” the generator power fails for 12 seconds, much to the frustration of Bruce who comments “we must be the Guinea Pigs here tonight”. According to an attendee recollection each of the three bands played similar length sets. After the end of the evening Springsteen spent about an hour backstage jamming with Cactus bassist Tim Bogart. There is no circulating audio from the late show.
