This is one of my all-time favourite Van Morrison-shows, combining the mystical and soulful Van with a splendid Norwegian band just for these shows. The second disc (Mar/26) got the best sound and will be the most rewarding for listening. Disc one (Mar/25) will be more of a bonus, but has not, as far as I know, been widely available among traders. Sound is not so good on that one.

Remaster notes: Numerous operations were performed, including; pitch
adjustments, added crossfades, light EQ, balanced & raised levels, and
SRC to 16/44. Two large LC channel drop-outs were adjusted by blending
some of the RC on top; TLOS 2:14 > 3:16 and TLOS 5:40 > TUIB 1:40. Set
One sounds better than Set Two, perhaps the taper changed positions(?).
Some songs have slightly chopped beginnings, noticeable chunks missing
from Sister & Brothers, Think, and TUIB. Thanks to JGMF for the source!

Comments:

Here is our recording from Neil’s Bluenotes tour from the newly opened
Palace in Auburn Hills, Michigan…about half hour or so from Detroit…75 miles
or so from Bay City, Mich. We had seats for the upper section, 1st row…however,
when we arrived they had that area curtained off. So we were allowed to go sit
anywhere we wanted. We went down somewhere near the soundboard, where we found an
area suitable for recording well. About 10 seconds before the intro, one of the
guards comes up to us and asks if we would like to move closer as there were plenty
of seats nearer the stage. We kindly let him know we were very happy seated where
we were at, and he left, I pushed record, missed the first few seconds of the
opening song. The band introductions were not recorded as we had to adjust the mics,
otherwise it’s complete. Recording came out well. Also, Joe Walsh with his red
guitar showed up for the last encore. Enjoy!

The night before the GD took over Alpine.
The fist, track is cut a bit, comes in during the first vocal. Rolling stone is cut, right at the end too, not too bad. Bob does a few songs by himself with G.E., on guitar.; from taper > viner > DNC vine cdrs > ultraplex > eac> wav > shn; same recording as previous but this one does not have the between track gaps; very good to excellent sound [B+]
