Sack O’ Woe” does not appear despite being listed – this was the Georgie Fame intro before Van takes the stage *

“Satisfied” fades in about one minute into the song.

“Vanlose Stairway, Trans-Euro, It’s Not the Twilight Zone” appears on Disc 1  *{Fixed track location to here to Disk 2 track #1 for this upload}

“Tupelo Honey” and “Crazy Love” are separate tracks on disc 2. *{appear as tracks 3a and 3b here}

More Info and Insights from Denis Healy

This is actually the full show and, in effect, we lose about one minute of the Van part of the show.

This is an average audience recording and is slightly disappointing given that there are some excellent masters of this show doing the rounds.

It is a pity that the compilers did not put a little more effort into getting the best master that was available. Had they done so, this could have been a boot to rival the likes of Pagan Streams for the title of the classic Van boot.
That said it is a worthy boot and it is an excellent show. It is also the first CD boot to feature tracks from The Healing Game album – six in all.

Van is really good on the vocals here and there are some excellent solos from band members. Overall opinion – good sound and a great show.Well worth the admission fee.

As an afterthought, it is worth mentioning the sleeve – the front has a really good colour close-up of Van with a “moody” B+W close-up of him on the rear.

The inner has a nice picture “Van through the ages”, which was lifted straight out of an article in “Q” magazine some time ago.

Nice graphic efforts overall though.Part of the van-the-man.info unofficial website

FreeMorrison Notes: * = Track info fixed here in this upload to reflect art work info. After some research and finding the info above I see it was not just my copy that had the track info messed up – but the mistakes were made early on – what I find very interesting is the fact that it is mentioned from Denis Healy

“That there are some excellent masters of this show doing the rounds. It is a pity that the compilers did not put a little more effort into getting the best master that was available. Had they done so, this could have been a boot to rival the likes of Pagan Streams for the title of the classic Van Boot.”

I believe it would be greatly appreciated form the Van Morrison Community if one had a Master Copy of this show and were to share it with us,,,That would be something.

Because even in this MP3 format (how I got it from a good friend) – this is one amazing show – and the sound has a deep rich and clear feel to it – I know that Van loves the beatiful city of Utrecht, Holland and it clearly shows in his passionate performance here this summer night in 1996.

Review by Brian Murphy:
I picked up this CD on the weekend. — Absolutely amazing. It was recorded in 1988 from concerts with the Chieftains in Ireland and contains most of the stuff from Irish Heartbeat. [It contains a] version of “Moondance” – as an *IRISH JIG*. Yes that’s right. I couldn’t believe it. It sounded just like an ordinary jig until I heard the words. I didn’t think that he could still find anything new in the song, the way he plays it in concert recently, but this just blew me away. Also a version of “Send In the Clowns” in which he actually sings it for real, no clowning around, no long pauses, no nothing. Just Van singing a great song as if he means it. (This tra

Notes from the original uploader:
It seems likely that this is not a commercial boot, but a homemade thing from a trader in Spain. The source appears to be radio, but according to one opinion it is “not flawless”. As the track listings indicate, there is quite a bit of DJ – which is great if you want a bit of Spanish listening practice 🙂

Thanks to BTR for the new Art Work front folder, this is one of my favorites, FM source always has good sound clarity.

Notes from somebody, not me:
This is the best sounding show from the Rock In A Hard Place Tour I’ve heard so far(I’ve only heard 3 others though, but this is the best out of them all). Great soundboard recording, I’d give it an A/A+. AS for the performance, I’m pretty sure Steven is under the influence of something. Someone throws a fire cracker on stage during Lord of the Thighs, and thats when it gets funny. Afterwards he sings Happy Birthday to Tom Hamilton (but it’s not his birthday). Besides that,
the band sounds good.

The only real problem is that Sweet Emotion is incomplete, unless they only played the solo. It lists the song as being 2 minutes long, but the first 30 sec is just Tyler talking, then it switches to the solo for the last 1:30 minutes. I ordered this from a store a few years back and I got the CDrs, along with a paper insert that just said Alohasmith! and the track listing and date, no artwork. I’m not totally sure, but I believe this was mass produced. Overall, a great sounding show, that I recommend to anybody who likes classic Aerosmith.

These recordings are both excellent :

-The Fukukoa ’77 show seems complete,and is an EXC audience recording for that period,very clear audience,well balanced

-The Waterloo ’76 show is an excellent soundboard, or an outstanding audience,not complete (first song cuts in)

These shows come from a friend of mine who sent me a bunch more that I’ll post over the next couple of days.  Eventually I’ll convert and upload the MP3s, but it may take awhile (unless I get comments asking me to do it and then I’ll put a rush on it.)  Enjoy.
