Notes:
Acquired master tape from the JEMS archives. What a great show this one is with Seger and the band playing in front of racous crowd and some special guests backstage. Even though Stranger In Town wasn’t released yet they preview 2 songs from the upcoming album this night (Feel Like A Number and The Famous Final Scene). Former Silver Bullet drummer Charlie Martin joins the band onstage for one of the encores also. It has been said that partially because Bruce Springsteen along with people like Ken Calvert (area promotions manager for Columbia records) were backstage watching the show this night that the band but on a one for the ages performance here. it has also been said that Springsteen’s following night performance in Saginaw(which JEMS was present at and recorded) was also inspired by this show (along with his lengthy backstage meeting with Bob) featuring the only performance of (I Don’t Want To) Hang Up My Rock & Roll Shoes and is also considered one of the best if not the best show of the whole 78 Darkness tour. The recording may not be the greatest but it does capture a very important piece of Motor City music history here so it is recommended to most everyone who is a true music fan.
