Speaking Out

?>CDR>EAC(Secure no C2)>Flac(Flacfrontend, level 6)

Backed by The Santa Monica Flyers, in the fall of 1973 Neil kicked of the Tonight’s The Night tour, confounding the audience
and critcs alike. Dressed like a sleazy barkeeper, he’greeted the audience withe a rousin “Welcome to Miama Beach,
ladies ande gentlemen”

As represented by his Manchester gig from November, the shows were strange, incoherent affairs, with weird stage patter filling
the gaps between songs. The songs, let us put it this way, they were un-fucking believable. The first eight songs were new
and the ninth song the audience had heard only once before, at the beginning of the set. They performed also CITS that night
But that version was to long to fit on this 69 min. boot. Also a lot of talking has been cut

4th gen aud tape => SB-Live => CoolEdit => flac

I can assure you this version has never seen mp3 or Minidisk as these things weren’t invented when I got this cassette.
Compared to the “Tonight’s Your Night”-boot this tape has a much darker sound (no equalizer used, I guess),
some tape hiss, but not much. When I got it I rated it quality B+, by today’s standards it’s more likely B (on a scale D to A+).
Anyway, now you’ve got your warning, feel free to download and share.

No artwork this time – sorry.
“The Velvet Taper”

By request — Gustav was asked to post this show, but I offered to do it and he said OK — he was busy anyway.
This has been widely bootlegged over the years under a variety of titles due to its high quality,
but check your copy — does it have the last song, “Cowgirl in the Sand”?
A version with all the songs didn’t emerge until about 10 years ago, under the title “Tonight’s Your Night.”
However, on that version, some of Neil’s between-song talk was cut to make it fit on a single disc.
About three years ago, this complete version emerged. “Tonight’s Your Night” runs 78:32,
while this one totals about 97 minutes. Neil was very talkative during this tour!
This version was treed on the Rust List around 2002. If anyone involved in that has taper info, please add it.
This is a nice, clear recording — the best one of the “Tonight’s the Night” tour in terms of sound quality,
in my opinion. Of course the limiting factor is that the recording equipment of 1973 doesn’t compare to current stuff.
This probably has been available here before, but if you’re new or missed it, here’s another chance.
Artwork is included. It’s low-resolution but readable.
