Location: Burlington, VT — Flynn Theater

Sad news about Nanci Griffith, but we have wonderful memories of her music.
This is one of them. It’s a reseed first uploaded on DIME in 2017.

Notes from the original seeder and the original info file:

Excellent audience recording with applause in proportion and quieter sections with volume level increased. Believe this is a personal record for the number of tracks cut from one performance.
I’ve always admired Nanci Griffith but had never realized the tremendous extent The Crickets were responsible for my sound foundation. They perform a set on their own (t24>44); just look at those titles!

Source Info:
Two audience tapes of unknown source and lineage.
Source “A” provides Set One and Roadrunner.
Source “B” provides I’ll Take A Melody thru Tangled Up In Blue.

Notes:
-Patrick Gym was a typical shoe-box basketball gym: stage at one end,
chairs going up the middle, and aprx 15 rows of bleachers along the back wall.
-Source “A” is very listenable, and sounds like it was taped on the floor.
-Source “B” has many problems, possibly taped further back (in the bleachers?).
-Source “B” is muffled and boomy throughout, and has much more audience noise.
-The last 56 seconds of Deal is different from source “A” (possibly source “B”?).
-Smoothed tape beginnings, ends, tape-flips, and blurry pauses between tracks.
-Adusted volume of How Sweet It Is downward, to match the rest of source “A”.
-Normalized volume and adjusted pitch for 56-second patch at end of Deal.
-One-second drop-out at 0:16 of Roadrunner (left as is).
-Removed some hiss in the highest band due to cassette generations.
-Removed some low-end in source “B” to limit the overpowing boominess.
-Removed further hiss in right channel of source “B” and normalized gain.
-Smoothed many volume fluctuations that were present throughout source “B”.
-Smoothed-down a few harsh yells in source “B”; left the claps mostly as-is.
-Removed a tape-flip music-overlap (not from master) in Don’t Let Go,
and seemlessly patched the two parts back together to one track.
-Pathed left channel over right for applause after Tangled Up, due to dropouts.

Until a better tape surfaces, this is what we have for this great Nov-81 show.
Highlights are standout versions of Let it Rock, Don’t Let Go, and Dixie.
ENJOY! 3/13/05

LB-05420 ; 63min+55min ; 2CDR ; Rating: A

Taper: SG
Source: low-gen audio disks > (dBpowerAMP set to compression level 6) flac.

Note: There are channel problems on d2,but for the most part do not interefere with the songs themselves until d2 t7, where they are severe and render the song unlistenable. Checking the lists of a couple fine collectors, both note the channel problems in the SG recording. There is one entry for this date in the Losslessbob archive, LB-501. Since there is no mention of channel problems for LB-501, it would appear to be derived from a different master.

bittorrent download 10/07;
asymetrical wavs on d1t6 limited on top to -7db while bottom goes to -5db;
limiting heard as light static at d1t6 6:4x and begin of d2t7;
same recording as LB-0501 based on same crowd and clapping at beginning of d1t7
and same clapping wavs at end of d1t1;
in comparison this is clearer with less hiss as that probably has cassette
generation but that has right channel ok on d2 and does not have the asymetric
limited wav problem his does; excellent sound [A]

right channel starts dropping out at end of d2t3 while left channel is ok;
drop/cut between cdrs
