Bob Dylan – Where The Neon Madmen Climb, 1976

Bob Dylan
1976 WHERE THE NEON MADMEN CLIMB
Pink Panther Records
Night Of The Hurricane 2 & Rolling Thunder Revue 2

As always thanks to Nellie at Expecting Rain for this compilation.

Nellie always includes an enormous amounts of excellent notes with these compilations. I usually trim them down considerably so that my posts aren’t enormous. I did the same here, but do to the nature of the Rolling Thunder Review with its wide variety of people on stage the notes are still a little unwieldy. I hope they still make sense. But if not you still wanna get this comp. – Mat

RTR Part 2 is very different to RTR Part 1. The music is tougher, heavier, edgier. At times it borders on hard rock.
There is way more to RTR 2 than the official Columbia Hard Rain live album.

There is a great breadth & depth of material here.
Bob was dealing with all sorts of personal demons at the time but it seems to just fuel the fire.
Not for the faint-hearted – it is a very bumpy ride but well worth it.

Lies, damn lies & statistics:

All the songs performed by Dylan & The Rolling Thunder Revue on tour in 1975
15 of a total of 25 concerts represented here, plus six rehearsals & one birthday party.
129 tracks.
112 different songs.

BobTalk:

That was kind of an old tune, this is kind of a new tune. We want to bring out an extra special violin player now, Miss Scarlet Rivera. Hold on to your socks! Gonna dedicate this to Pancho Villa and of course Sam Peckinpah Ö Romance In Durango.

Wanna dedicate this to Keith Richards, called Isis. Listen!

We wanna do the next one for Ian & Sylvia (before Wild Mountain Thyme)

Itís nice to be in Toronto. It really is Ö itís different up here to living in the United States for some reason, itís Godís country (before Oh, Sister)

This is the only underground song I know. Itís really underground. (before One More Cup Of Coffee)

You been sitting there for five hours! Must be some kind of record. (before Just Like A Woman)
