Opened For The Grateful Dead

OldNeumanntapr Notes:
This was an Incredible set! I heard a rumor in line that Bonnie would be opening. She was on fire, and was at the top of her game in ’89 with a hot new comeback CD, ‘Nick Of Time.’ I remember that she was stoked to be onstage with the Dead, and commented to the deadheads at the beginning of the set, “If you’re as ready as you smell, you’re happenin!” I was in the second row of the tapers section with my buddy Gene’s Sony TCD-D10 DAT and Nakamichi CM-300 shotguns. 25 years later I am Still sick that I didn’t have an extra DAT blank and battery for the D10 for her set. I recorded it with my D6 but the D10 would have done such a better job. I find that, over the years, it is Bonnie’s set that I listen to far more than the Dead’s set from this night. I’ve seen Bonnie a number of times since this show but I’ve never heard one of her sets that had the intensity that this one had.

Enjoy! Share freely, don’t sell, play nice, don’t run with scissors, etc. 😉

  1. Thanks for this fine looking set from Bonnie. I just downloaded it and there were only 12 songs in the file. River of Tears (#12 of 13) seems to be missing. Any thoughts on what went wrong?

    • Everything looks okay on my end. I can see the files in the Google drive and they play from there as well.

I’m guessing they just didn’t download for you for some reason.

You can go inside the folder and download just those songs. You shouldn’t have to download the whole show again.

  2. That was a good idea. I found it this time and now have the complete show to listen to.

I hope all is good these days in Tulsa. I’m looking forward to next Thursday when I will get to see the Stones play in Denver. It will be my 5th time seeing them. My first Stones show was in 1969 at MSG, when they recorded Get Yer Ya Ya’s Out. If this is half as good as that one it will be a great experience!

    • I’m glad you got it worked out. Have fun at the Stones show. I’ve never seen them, but I bet they are a lot of fun to see live, even if they are old, old, old… 🙂
