Shows of the Day: June 14, 2024

I am thrilled to announce that OldNeumanntapr has agreed to allow The Midnight Cafe to be the preeminent site for sharing the shows he taped. Most of you probably know the name, and I’ve shared a few of his shows on this site periodically.

He’s been taping for years all across California and beyond. We got to talking the other day and I used my skills of persuasion to get him to share all of his shows with me and I’ll be sharing them on the site over the next many weeks/months.

Many of the artists he’s recorded will be familiar to you – Jerry Garcia, David Grisman, Bonnie Raitt, etc, but there will be some new to-the-site bands and a few I’ve never even heard of.

I already started sharing some of his recordings, and several of them were shared today (Blue Oyster Cult, Bonnie Raitt, Blues Traveler). He’s still in the process of sharing his recordings with me and I’ll be sprinkling them in until we are done. As to not overwhelm the site with just his shows I’ll still share other recordings as well.

Here in a day or few I’ll create a page just for his shows so for those of you who want to collect them all, they will be in one place. I have already created a Category and Tag so you can follow those if you like now.

I’ll put out a call now to all tapers: The Midnight Cafe would love to be the premier destination for your shows. I’ll happily upload everything you have to my Google Drive and put you in a place of honor. If you have taped just a single show or a thousand, I’d love to share them here.

And with that, here’s todays shows.

Bill Graham Memorial – 1991.11.03 – San Francisco, CA – I’d previously only shared the Grateful Dead portion of this show, but thanks to my new friend OldNeumanntapr I’m not able to share the entire thing.

Neil Young – 1983.07.12 – Memphis, TN

Reconstruction – 1979.07.06 – Berkeley, CA

Van Morrison – 1994.04.29-30 – Malmo, Sweden

Van Morrison – 1994.06.18 – Poole, England

  1. I traded… DATs, I think, with Jeff 25 or so years ago (OMG I’m old), and of course have seen his recordings on torrent sites for years. Looking forward to seeing his recordings here! Speaking of which, have all his David Lindley recordings been shared?

    • Thats very cool (not the you are old part but that you’ve traded with him). He’s been sharing his David Lindley stuff with me. I’ll get them up on the site soon.
