  1. Any idea why I’m getting emails re: new posts (e.g., today’s Thin Wild Mercury Sound) long before the posts themselves show up on the web site?

    • Yes, but it is slightly complicated 🙂

My entire site is in private mode. Everybody has to have be approved before they can see anything. At the same time I still have lots of old posts individually in private mode. So even if you have been given access to the site you still can’t see those posts.

Periodically I go to those old, private posts, clean them up, add in new links or tags and then make them “public” which means they are still unviewable to the general public but can be seen to all those who have been approved.

Whenever I do this, for unknown reasons, an e-mail is sent out just like it was a brand new post. But you don’t see the post on the front page because it was originally posted many moons ago. To see it on the site the easiest thing to do is search for the post title. Otherwise you’d have to keep scrolling down through page after page after page.

Does that make sense. It is kind of screwy. What’s even weirder is that not everyone gets those e -mails even if they are signed up to my e-mail system. This is why I do the reposts of the day.
